The CI750 is a microprocessor controlled, fully buffered, high speed, intellegent interface used to transfer I/O data between two or more computer nodes. Data is tranferred via dual path CI serial data busses and associated SC008 Star Couplers, over BNCIA-xx type CI cables of no more than 45 meters in length. Computer nodes connected in this manner are referred to as a CLUSTER. The CI750 consists of two basic sections; the *CI Port Adapter*(CIPA) in a CI750 Adapter Box, mounted in a "lowboy" H9542 cabinet, which contains a 877-D(B) power controller, and the *CPU Memory Interconnect* (CMI). The CIPA is further broken down into three modules; LINK (ILI, L0100), PACKET BUFFER (IPB, L0101) and DATA PATHS (CDP, L0400), one H7202-D Power Supply and a forced air cooling fan. The CMI consists of a single CMI INTERFACE (CCI, L0009) module which resides in one of the 3 CMI I/O option slots in the VAX 11/750 backplane. The CIPA and CMI are connected via the CIPA 40 conductor bus cables (17-19602-00) which can be no longer that 15 ft.
