Compaq ProLiant Cluster Kit for NetWare 4.2
Compaq ProLiant Cluster for NetWare 4.2 is a two node high availability solution utilizing Compaq servers and storage combined with Novell's NetWare
4.2 NOS and NetWare Cluster Server (NHAS) clustering software. A ProLiant Cluster for NetWare 4.2 can be implemented utilizing a wide range of
ProLiant servers with Raid Array 4100 (RA4100) family fibre channel storage as well as for the SCSI based ProLiant CL380 Packaged Cluster. The
ProLiant Cluster for NetWare 4.2 provides an excellent solution for a customer with a small to mid-range installation which has significant uptime
requirements.
OVERVIEW
Compaq ProLiant Cluster for NetWare 4.2 provides high availability for applications and data in business-critical Novell NetWare 4.2/4.11 environments.
Versions of the Compaq ProLiant Cluster for NetWare 4.2 utilizing fiber channel storage use Compaq's industry-leading ProLiant servers, Compaq
StorageWorks RA4100 family storage, fibre channel FC-AL Hubs to connect severs and storage and the Compaq Insight Manager (CIM) management
utility. The SCSI based ProLiant CL380 Packaged Cluster is also supported by the ProLiant Cluster for NetWare 4.2.
The Compaq ProLiant Cluster for NetWare 4.2 uses the industry-standard Novell High Availability Server (NHAS) software with Novell NetWare 4.2 for
cluster operation and failover management. Novell NetWare 4.2 and NHAS must be purchased separately from a Novell authorized reseller.

Maximum Availability, Minimum Cost
Because Compaq ProLiant Clusters are built from industry-standard components, Compaq delivers high levels of application availability at a much lower
cost than traditional, proprietary cluster solutions. The Compaq ProLiant Cluster for NetWare 4.2 offers an excellent range of entry to mid-range solutions
starting with the compact and cost effective ProLiant CL380 to a variety of industry-leading ProLiant servers with high performance StorageWorks fibre
channel storage.
Investment Protection
Both existing and new Compaq ProLiant servers are certified for Compaq ProLiant Cluster for NetWare 4.2. This means that customers can build clusters
using existing servers or by mixing old and new servers. Fibre channel storage systems supported include the Compaq Fibre Channel Storage System,
the RAID Array 4000 (RA4000) and the RA4100, again, providing investment protection for customers who wish to utilize existing equipment. Two
versions of the Compaq ProLiant Packaged Cluster, the ProLiant CL1850 and the new ProLiant CL380 are supported.

Server to Server Interconnect
Compaq strongly recommends the use of a private network connection between cluster nodes. A 12-foot Ethernet crossover cable or an extended 100-
foot Ethernet cable is available to purchase for this purpose.
Storage
The following storage arrays have been certified for use with the ProLiant Cluster for NetWare 4.2:
StorageWorks RA4000 RAID Array fibre channel only
StorageWorks RA4100 RAID Array fibre channel only
Packaged Cluster storage based on internal CR3500 SCSI RAID Controller
